You may not be able to get any closer to the heart of Manhattan than Weehawken. This town, which is directly connected to Midtown Manhattan via the Lincoln Tunnel, is so close to the city that you won’t have to feel disconnected from the pulse of the lifestyle there. Weehawken is also perfectly situated for access to the best that New Jersey and the Gold Coast have to offer.

With a population of almost 64,000, Weehawken is a very densely populated, urban area that has many types of real estate property available, from high-rise apartments, luxury condos, single-family homes, and even commercial property for sale or rent. The waterfront is teeming with new construction, and is expected to further revitalize the area with new residents. With the Lincoln Tunnel and a New York Waterway terminal on the premises, expect many new residents to take advantage of the close proximity to New York City.

Weehawken is indeed the site where Alexander Hamilton and Aaron Burr had their duel, where Hamilton was fatally wounded. But for the ghost wary, don’t worry – he actually died after being ferried back to Manhattan. Weehawken is full of history, much like its Gold Coast neighbors, but now it is fertile ground for a new generation of real estate investors taking advantage of the rapid growth in the area.

Residents in Weehawken enjoy the best of both worlds – the cosmopolitan environment of New York City, and the more relaxed lifestyle of the New Jersey waterfront community. Give Weehawken a look before everyone else does.

Weehawken Recreation

Before you jump to the conclusion that Weehawken is a mere gateway to the entertainment options in Manhattan, take a look at the future of Weehawken. For example, The Hudson Riverfront Performing Arts Center has made its home in Weehawken and is dedicated to producing concerts all year round for the community. In the summer, outdoor concerts are held at Lincoln Harbor Park, while the rest of the year, concerts take place in the atrium lobby of 1000 Harbor Boulevard (UBS is their current corporate sponsor). Look for big things to happen in the future, with a potential permanent space that may be built in the future.

Weehawken also just opened in 2007 the Weehawken Waterfront Park and Recreation Center. With 16 acres of recreation space, it’s a gorgeous use of the waterfront land, and an incredible resource for the town, especially for the waterfront residents. Among these new developments and programs, Weehawken’s Recreation Department also offers free and low cost great sports programs for children.

But back to accessibility to other parts of New Jersey and New York City, Weehawken allows you to get the other Hudson County Gold Coast towns via the Hudson-Bergen Light Rail, as well as take advantage of a virtually instantaneous commute into Manhattan via the ferry or through the tunnel. We know that for those interested in Weehawken, ease of travel may play a big part – we just wanted to point out that there are plenty of reasons to stay put.
